Hi greyemu,

I have had my fm70 evakool for about 2 years now
I am very happy with my purchase and it gets quite a lot of use.
Spends 90% of it's time in the Landcruiser and the rest in the yacht. Even gets used as a step in the yacht so I can vouch for it's toughness.

We have a fm - think it's a 95 and it packed it in at 11 months old . A blockage of some sorts. had to send it to QLD as they wanted to see the problem first hand. All fixed now - so fingers crossed.

I have the 70L. It is great as a fridge, and as a fridge/freezer, but I dont think it copes very well as a freezer alone. The coil section only covers one half of the unit, and it has the lower capacity compressor.

It fits perfectly in the back of a Landcruiser 100 series, behind the cargo barrier. I attached fridge rollers from Bunnnings to the bottom of the fridge (with double sided tape) so I can roll it in and out of the vehicle. It may be too long for many vehicles.

I like the idea that it is lower and longer, meaning you arent cramming things on top of each other.

Hi there, we have just recently bought the evakool fridgemate 70ltr fridge/freezer and we used it just this weekend gone, man all I can say is what a fantastic fridge. We got to our site and unpacked everything and decided to leave the fridge in the boot under the shade while we took the kids swimming. We had the fridge hooked up to our battery setup so as it would keep it running. When we got back from the creek the sun was belting straight on the boot, NOW when we opened the boot the inside temp was 59 degree's YES I no stupid to leave it in the boot, BUT the fridge was still powering along and still cooling at around 8.5 degrees inside and this is still 50 degrees below ambient temp. So obviously we removed the fridge quick smart as on the outside of the fridge it was hot to touch (meaning the esky box) Now that fridge worked like a trooper and was the best investment we have ever made. IF you want a good reliable sturdy fridge then this is the one to buy. I haven't had anything to do with engel or waeco but seeing how this performs I wouldn't buy anything else. Of course what did we learn from all this DON"T leave the fridge in the boot. So for us THUMBS UP for evakool fridgemate
