Hi all, iam looking at putting a roof rack on my prado, i have a new one with the long rails already on it. i would like to put cross rails and clamp a tjm or arb cage to the rails but not sure wich would be the better option, or would it be better to take the original rails off and bolt the cage on permanant? was told the alloy cage isnt strong enough when tying down the end caps can come out if over tightend, and the wire cages look like shopping baskets to me so wich one to get!!!!!!!!!!!

On our 2001 Prado (no rails) I purchased 2 Rolla Roof Racks and to avoid the wire cage look a Rola Vortex Steel Luggage Tray which clamps to the racks. Its a simple exercise to remove the tray when its not required,I leave the rolla racks on. Its not a heavy duty setup but it works for us , we carry the tent etc up on top. Regards Alanc
