Anyone been to Innaminka in the last 4 weeks or so?

Hi,
Has anyone on here been to Innaminka in the last 4 or so weeks and is prepared to answer a couple of questions offline either via email or Member Message?

I should be out there fairly early in the New Year for work and need a couple of specific questions answered.

Thanks,
Geoff

Geoff,

Grey hair is hereditary, you get it from children. Baldness is caused by watching the Wallabies.

Hi Geoff
My son is a surveyor and is working in the area - Moomba and Ballera just over the border in Queensland. When he flew in last Friday the roads were sill closed and food that normally comes in by the truck load was starting to run very low. Yesterday it was only 38 C and as you expect the flies in there millions. He be ringing tomorrow, so what do you need to know and I will try to find out. Today he is driving the 4 hours back to Moomba for 6 hours surveying just south of Moomba, then a four hour drive back to Ballera. Why he is not staying over in Moomba I do not know.

Cheers

Stephen

Hi Peter,
You are right about that. James does not mind the heat so much as the flies. Like he said, you would be buggered without a fly net.
He only has about another 5 months before they will disappear with the cooler weather.

Cheers

After the recent rain the flies will only increase and then the mozzies as well.
I can remember being out there one year in October was very hot, nigh on impossible to make a sandwich as the flies covered everything immediately.
Had to make lunch in the truck with a/c on, kids ate lunch inside the fly nets!
One bloke at Innamincka was trying to get my 5 y/o son to sell his flynet, the offers got up to $30 before the young bloke said that it wasn't for sale at any price!

I've sent you a Member Message.

I've been warning the young dutch bloke I work with about the flies, he's in for some fun!

I was there a few years ago and the shop had sold something like 2,500 fly veils in less that 5 days and they were unable to get any more.

Hi Geoff
Just heard from James. He has been working on the site that you need information on. The shed and office are built. They were capping the bore on Monday last. Some of the footings for the pipe work have been done. He said that he should be there again tomorrow and will ask for a date for you. Even though he should be there on Friday, like most things in his field, jobs get changed on a day to day basis.

When find out anything more I will let you know.

Cheers

James
