K Mart have got this special on at the moment. I used to be in the
camping business and that is a hot price when you consider their generous warranties etc.
Happy Christmas to all,
Willie.

got me buggered why you would want to buy a dome tent in the first place.

So you have your own private little sauna wherever you are!
We always had a 9x9 one pole tourer tent, full HD canvas, it is now nearly 30 years old and still in perfect condition despite being used continuously for at least 3 months every year.
When the kids got bigger and older we suggested that we get a second tent for the older two, which they thought was great.
So we bought a good quality 4 person dome with supposedly plenty of ventilation. After using it a few times they declared it useless, too hot, no ventilation (even with both sides open the condensation in cold weather was unbelievable) (from a 10 and 12 y/o mind you) and demanded a second tourer type tent.
The dome tent was sold and a second canvas tourer tent purchased.

Peter, Ive always had a 9x9 tourer but recently my nephew gave me a 6 person dome, he tried
camping and it wasnt for him. We have the dome now and give the boys the Tourer. I think it depends on the amount of netting on the main inner and
the gap between the inner (tent) and the fly. Some domes seem to have overlooked We reckon its pretty good with no centre pole and the double bed in the middle.. Michael

Some people might not have as much money to spend on gear as you Handy. There is plenty of people who would make do with a dome tent, especially for $69.
As Michael said , it depends on how it is designed, as to
well ventilated it will be.

Picture this.
A bloke's just lost his job. Can't afford the $1000 a week holiday house and all the expensive outings for the family.
He figures, we've got a trailer, a few folding chairs, old stove in the shed, few matresses lying around the house, a few torches etc, etc.
All he needs is a tent and for $70 he can take the family on holiday.
Yep, I can understand why someone would buy a dome tent.
Cheers,
Jim.

Too hot? Lived in the Kimberleys my whole life and have spent many a night in a dome tent, nothing wrong with them if you ask me. Cheap, small to pack away and easy plus keeps ya out of the weather. They are hot in the day time yes, but why would you be in a tent in the day time?

we've had two kmart tents, one a two room family,( jackeroo? ) the other a touring type tent, they both leaked badly, even after putting extra
water proofing stuff on, the zips are crap too, as is the mesh screen
the warranty doesn't compensate for a ruined and shortened holiday after you've packed up and left early coz everything is satched,
ok for a weekend away if you know it ain't going to pour down

You seem to get good and bad in all things. I have had a 2 room Jackaroo tent for about 20 years + and never had an issue with it.
I must admit it is sometime since I have used it now.....but in the days when I did, I could not fault it.
I also still have a dome tent for some 10 years + and again cannot fault it. One of the things I would be looking for would be good ventilation, a rear door etc.
If a $70 spend was all that I needed to get me out there
camping then I would there lined up at the checkout.
Sometimes I think we lose sight of the bigger picture.

I saw the ad. I figured I could buy one, chop up the outer and make an awning for the truck, and still have a mozzie dome for the swag! All for $69!!!!
