We are ready to go on the year long trip.............but can't leave until end of January 2009. The plan is to head south (from south east Qld) so we get through the top end before November 2009. We have had thoughts of heading north first and taking our time up the Qld coast so we start heading across the top in March.
I would love to hear comments from the experienced round the island travelers.
Thanks Brian & Mel

Yes go south. Cooler down that way after January. Less heat and humidity means a more pleasant journey, and you shouldn't find yourself stranded by summer rains.
The top bit can get warmish, even in November.
But it doesn't really matter which way you go, take your time and a sense of humour and you'll enjoy whichever way you decide.

We are going to head south.

Hooter,
Just look at the max/mins and humidity and that will be all you need to go south, also we are coming into the rainy/troppo season.
Unless you have heaps of hooter to mellow you out for the trip, I would go south

Head south, but above all "take time to smell the roses"
