Secondary Battery- Toyota Cruiser 200 Series V8TD

I have on order a Toyota V8TD, Series 200 GXL Cruiser and I intend to have a secondary battery (actually it will be a third as the car already has 2 batteries) placed under the bonnet to run my Engel fridge via 12v connection.
Although there is limited space under the hood I am sure others have done this and would welcome advice as to what battery you were able to fit. Size of the battery unit will no doubt be an issue but I would like to go with the most amp hours I can get.
Can anyone advise?
Thanks.

There is a lot of discussion about this on the LCOOL website.
A few of us have split the two factory batteries and had no problem whatsoever. I did this 12 months ago and all is good.

The problem putting in a third battery under the hood is that there is no room unless you move all the electronic fuel stuff on the passenger side. Pirahna do a kit for this but I wouldn't go touching all that stuff.

I think Opposite Lock do a kit that installs a battery under the LH rear guard (heaps of room there).

What Richo said x 2

There was a Toyota email floating around a while ago saying to split the 2 batteries and do not touch the electronics by putting a third battery in. It would be less capacity anyway. The standard batteries are N55 but the locations will hold N70 on the drivers side ( starter)and slightly larger on the pasengers side ( aux). Like Richo I have had this setup for almost a year inc. use in the high country on cold mornings without an issue. Get an ARB or Redarc isolator and you can even join the two batteries with the push of a buton.

I may be wrong here Boobook, my apologies if I am, but I think you may have those batteries reversed. I thought the driver's side was aux....?

What Richo and Boobook2 said x 3!!!

Splitting the batteries is not that difficult, run all your accessories off the drivers side battery and isolate it. Fitting a 3rd battery under the bonnet is just asking for problems in the 200 due to all the electronics.

Check out the LCOOL forum, heap of useful info on how to do stuff for the 200, along with things to watch out for.

Cheers

Put an AGM DC in a $25 battery box the back, separated by a battery isolator and using good thick cable, with an Anderson plug connection close to the battery, so it can be removed as required.
Simple, cheap and very effective !
