I put some of the Bridgestone D694 light truck 235/85/R16 onto ROH 16x7 steel rims this week for my 75 series landcruiser.
(I told someone ROH 16X7 were no longer available upon advice from the retailer,but they turned up instead of the 16x8 which were my 2nd choice)
The tyres are made in Japan for those that were wondering.
Initial impressions is they are nice to drive,but maybe a little too squishy.
I went up from 36 psi to 40 psi and there was some improvement but they still have that jelly rubber feel. Maybe its the split rims and cheap tyres that Im used to.
I took them offroad without deflation in some waste ground near home and they seem to go
well in deep sand.
Im sure they will excell with a few pounds of air removed

Out of interest, how much did you pay for them?
I run the 235/85 16 on the pajero.
Need some new ATs soon, so starting to think of what is around.
Yes, I find a variation in side wall flex between different makes too in that size. Were you running 7.5/16 on splits?

Im not sure of the exact price as the total had other items mixed in but I think they were about $270 each.
Most tyres seem to have gone up $10-20 this month

I think you will be happy with your purchase , don't know your car but inflation pressures of high 40's are common on some of those vehicles particularly when loaded. The 8 inch rims are certainly to wide for that size tyres and 7 inch is just right.
I believe the rubber is just a little soft initially but give them a few months in the sun and they should settle
well.

I tested them at 20psi today in thick sand and they cruised through it.
When I reinflated them,I took the back ones to 45 psi and the fronts on 40.
My 75 series weighs about 2600-2700kg with the camper body.
Another thing that makes me happy is they are 32 inches inflated.
The old 235x85x16 were more like 31 inches overall.
I had a great deal of trouble convincing the tyre
shop that tyres with the same nominal size are not necessarily all the same size

Ross , I have found similar.
When I got my 235/85/16 I took a lot of time and measured and weighed some 17 different tyres.
I found 1.3cm difference in the width of the tread on the ground across brands and somewhere over 2kg of rubber content difference in tyres with same ratings.

D694 have been available in 17 for Prado 120 for four years now. We're on our second set and remain impressed.
The commentary regarding tyre pressure is interesting. We weigh in at 2950 kgs when fully loaded for a Simpson trip. At the most we run 36F and 38R with 12 PSI in the poly airs. That is for bitumen travel and we drop to 28 psi once we hit the Borefield Track.
Around town we run 34 psi

i work for bridgestone and sell heaps of 694s.
from the feed back we get about the squirming it should dissapear after about 1000ks.
