You can
camp in/next to the Rangers HQ, the old shearing sheds or the flat/cleared/graded
camp area. Conditions are basic and
water may not be available. Check with National Parks Regional Office at
Berri (Murraylands Regional Office (61 8) 8595 2111..)
Sometimes public access is restricted or refused particularly if there is a high fire danger or they are conducting pest management.
You may require a permit and fees may be charged.

Hi We stopped at Canopus station a couple of years ago ( 03), came up from the south, the
ranger , his name was " Mate Osbourne" his number 85958010 ,sent us out to Gaston dam, 5 ks north of the station. a cleared area with a fire bucket and cut up wood. no
water but nice shade .
he was very helpfull and gave a history lesson as
well, I think it was $ 6.50 a car,
Also if you have time there is a loop drive out around Birthday hut as
well.
Cheers Des.

If your friend is travelling from
Renmark, Daangali is only 90 minutes away, but there are several good
camping options there including at Canopus where showers/
toilets are available, as other replies ring Mate Osborne who is a wealth of knowledge about that area.
