Hi Micheal
I'm glad to see any movement , and was more afraid that they might go under leaving Toyota with no competition.
Wether or not the movement is in the right direction is yet to be determined - but I like the sound of my 4.8lt engine in a V8 configuration.

Robin, a few mumbles a few months ago but typical of Nissan, no confirmation of anything at all, With the 200 series set to stay for the next 10 years, like it or hate it, Nissan have nothing to be coy about. Being up front for a change, may make some people wait for a new Patrol rather than giving up and going with a Landcruiser.. It seems the whole thinking and marketing is floored, starting with Japan and extends to all their international markets as
well!! Michael

As we approach Christmas some of us will enjoy the companionship we share with a dearly loved spouse and children.
Unfortunately for some they will have to endure this time of joy alone, for they are so selfish that no-one cares for them.
I feel for them.
I am a lucky man, but still, you only get back what you put back in.
My thoughts at this wonderful time of year.
Jim.

Typical Nissan....
they modelled the GU after the 80 Series Cruiser and now this one is modelled after the 200 Series with a touch of Pajero thrown in to catch the Miysubishi buyers.

I thought Nissan was going to be sourcing large engines from Chrysler and Cummins. Nissan would have access to the 5.7L Hemi V8 and a 5.0L V8 Cummins diesel in a joint venture with Chrysler. Where did this 4.8L V8 come from?

Chrysler anounced this week they have stopped all US production until the middle of January 2009 and if the US gubamint doesn't cough up the quids they won't be back.
GM is about a week behind them and Ford a couple of months later.
The scary bit is no amount of money will save all their out of touch useless arse's.

In some instances .... the great aussie car, commodore ... in for insurance repairs is being written off due to the lack of parts availability in Oz from the US ... Motors for nissan probably not readily available either.

WTF ?
Another motor debacle with Renault ?
Why ?...Better they work on their guarantees, and customer service.
To me their old 4.2, with a reworked head, and computer bits and pieces would be the way to go.
After all, when some of the locals here in Oz put their heads together, they can make these old battleships get up and go.
What some companies and engineers will do,never ceases to amaze me. And for an image..?
Cheers
Bucky

Thinking last night after seeing that Nissan vehicle that it will be along those lines and probably the car itself, i might polish up the old` 4.2 and just keep it.. The landcruiser is not worth the money for the Diesel and only the auto available.. There isn't a lot of options and they are all going soft!!! Michael

I think that is a shadow. There isn't a wheel on the rear though.
I guess we better hope that is the wheel. Because if it's not, the spare wheel would be in the inside rear under the floor, if that is the case it almost certainly means independant rear
suspension. When Toyota released the 200 I saw an article somewhere quoting the head engineer. When asked why the 200 had the rear seats on the side and not under the floor when not in use, He said you can either have room under the floor or a solid axle, but not both. So they decided to go with the rigid axle at the expense of the seating arangements.

I am just a bit suspicious. Has anyone noticed that there are no visible joins around that front or rear bumper? And also there appears to be a couple of little "buttons" on the front bumper that look like the ones normally seen on the rear for reverse proximity sensors.
I think someone has had a bit of Photoshop practice here! I reckon it is a clever composite photo.

Why are they all going for the bland and bulky looking sides??? Plain and ugly.
