Steve,
As I wrote in the other thread - there is a problem with Flash 10 and the problem still exists - I just update FF to the latest version and the flash error is still evident. Both IE and FF exhibit the flash 10 performance problem. Glad you have some success with FF - I use both and cannot really see much difference at the moment (due to the Flash problem) however FF is generally much faster than IE.
Good work and enjoy you new performance however is running Flash 10 make sure you close the browser and open again periodically to flush out the mem usage.

Hi David
I have just downloaded Mozilla Firefox as
well and it works the way it used to for Internet Explorer. Now any task her is almost instantaneous
I have not changed anything with Norton's.
All the best to you and Michelle and have a great Christmas.
Cheers
Stephen

I had to download FF to be able to do BAS online to ATO.
Kids a few months back loaded Skype onto my office computer.
When i was trying to Bas a few weeks later I couldnt log onto the ATO site. ahh their site is down...i'll do later this arvo I thought...went on for a couple of days and was running out of time to lodge so a call to the ATO was placed.
You cant log onto to the ATO using IE if if you have Skype installed...and no one knows why....??? not even the IT gurus at ATO so the help desk says....the work around was to install FF or get rid of Skype
EO definitely loads faster than in IE...but cant notice the difference in some other sites such as ebay and trading post

G'day Nudie, I know that your version of Etax is commercial however, I have had skype running for a couple of years and I have been able to do my personal tax returns on line and I use IE.

IE is forever in the news for security. I am using Chrome or Opera these days. With Chrome, thought I wonder how much Google is gathering on me :-( doubt they are worse than Microsoft though.

Stevo,
Your next thing to do is install this:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1865
You will wonder how you ever lived without it.

Ever been annoyed by all those ads and banners on the internet that often take longer to download than everything else on the page? Install Adblock Plus now and get rid of them.

Have been using FireFox since David sort of 'recommended' it here on the
forum.
Have some 'add ons' also installed, including the "add blocker" above, yes it does make a nice difference !!
Yes, it's now so simple to manipulate it to suit yourself and you have so many performance and visual options available.

Can't believe people pay for a M$ system when there are so many security issues and Linux is free with NO security issues.

Most people don't really have a choice....Windows comes pre-installed on most systems.
You seem to have a real Microsoft phobia :-)

It's more than a phobia I never use Windows unless it's running inside Linux in a virtual pc this way it's safe. I do all my banking on the Internet and would shudder at the thought of having to use Windows with all it's security issues, it's just not safe. I found that when using Windows every time I connected to the Internet it would download security updates for M$ or virus signatures which uses valuable mega bytes and the system kept getting slower and slower. Like I said before Linux is free you and can even get a free
CD sent to you from Ubuntu Linux

I've been using Firefox for over 2 years, and love it. Have been using Norton for about 6 years.
I've been told by IT personnel that Firefox is a lot more secure than IE, as more spammers, virus's and hackers lean towards IE users than Firefox - ie it's less known and less targeted. Between FF & NAV, I've never had a problem with big problem viruses or hackers.

After reading the thread I have downloaded and installed. No discernible speed difference.
Looks interesting though!
Two Questions.
Adblock is enabled, but I am still getting ads. What else do I need to do?
How do I open tabs for several pages??

To get a new tab It's File>New Tab. there are many add-ons in Firefox Tools>Add-ons then Search or Browse all Add-ons.
To save all the Tabs it's Tools>Options>Use current pages

One of the add-ons I use is :
Toolbar Buttons. This gives you a whole range of buttons that you can drag on to your toolbar. One of the buttons I use is 'new tab', just click on it and it opens a new tab.
I also find the copy/paste buttons very useful.
Another add-on I find handy is :
Tabs Open Relative. This will open new tabs to the immediate right of the current tab. I usually have between 20 and 50 tabs open at any one time, and it saves scrolling to the end of the tabs all the time to find the new tab you just opened.
Cheers
