Has anyone had any experience with the Aussie Hotcamp Shower? It is a portable shower with 12vlt submersible pump and runs off your gas bottle.

Hi Mudness
I saw them being demonstrated at Wanden field Day.
The problem I see is that amount of room they take up and the weight.
Still reckon the billy over the fire, a bucket and a 12 volt pump is the way to go and a Melissa who is lurking around would say, plus acts as a washing machine.

G'Day Ray, the article I saw reckons they weigh less than 5Kg but it is hard to get an idea of their size from the pics. Used the billy for a long time but with a growing family and more close to
home trips we are looking for something that will supply more heated water quicker. Not keen on the glinds etc because of the need to run the engine all the time and as we always carry several gas bottles for the cooker & fridge we thought these may be an option. In the demo was the thing putting out a decent amount of water? Thanks for the response. Mudness

Hi Mudness
The water flow was fine, temperature was controllable. The unit stood approxiamately 1.2m high.
It would be ideal for use with base camps, and with a trailer to carry the extra gear in.
The only problem I see is that each child has to carry their own water, as some teenages seems to use 135 litres per shower

Hi Mudness,
We have one of those Aussie
camp showers, works great. By the time it takes to light a fire you can set the shower up and have 2 adults and 1 child showered, plenty of pressure. I have made up a fitting so you can run the water through twice for washing up water, gets that hot you can barley put your hands in it. The pump will run off a 12 volt cordless drill battery. the unit is only about 5kgs and about 1.5meters long when packed up, and has a quick release air type valve to attatch the extention pipe and shower rose when set up. We are verry happy with our purchase.
