Recently purchased a Pod Trailer Camper with awning ...
The awning wall has velcro to attach to the main tent and a zip along the top join .. because of the extra weight of the wall the awning sags in the middle ..
So how do I stop it ?
My thoughts were a piece of Aluminium strip with Velcro stuck on both sides ??
Anyone else got any equally brilliant ideas ?
Cheers
Steve

Go to polarisinnovations.com.au and have a look at their accessories page I think. They offer an extendable pole with a spring loaded X which works a treat. We have one of their rear awnings and it solves the flapping problem with that and we also use it for our Black Wolf when the awning is up as the do flog around in the wind

That site is for scooters for the disabled - not quite ready for that yet .. Couldn't see any
camping accessories or poles ?

Not sure about your situation, but sagging awnings are easily propped up with an aluminium tent pole and a PET Coke Bottle over the top. The Coke bottle stops the canvas getting perforated by the pole.

or you can put a tennis ball on top of the pole - gets you out of playing tennis to leave more time for the beer :)

Not the best photo - but you can see the great sag in the side wall .. Obviously it is too heavy for the awning roof to hold up - So I thought of sandwiching the alum strip in between the 2 velcro strips ??

Perhaps you need more guide ropes. A second one from the pole closest to us would help to redirection the pole. You seem to have two ropes on the pole to the far right, but I can't see it on the front pole.
Also, I wouldn't drape the tarp directly on to the tent - it just adds weight.

Hi Steve,
Looking at your photo you don't seem to have any poles coming from the tent to the top of the corner poles. They should run parallel to
the ridge pole. Come to think of it you dont appear to have a ridge pole or gable poles. Take some time to make sure everything is square and certainly use double ropes on the corners.Does this make sence to you . Regards Terry

Steve, the awning should have a complete frame of its own.It should also have a pole that runs from the centre of
the ridge pole to the centre of the horizontal pole on the long side of the gable.Send me an email to terrygg@iinet.net.au and I will send you the diagram of my awning. Regards Terry

A bit more info --
The Tarp was thrown over fairly quickly when we were told a storm was coming ( and it did !! ) - My problem is the awning which is zipped to the camper tent - The side wall has a velcro strip which is attached to the awning roof and because it is heavy it makes the awning sag severely - I tried tightening the guys but all that did was undo the velcro - Should there be a ridge pole ? or as i suggested a piece of aluminium strip with velcro stuck to both sides just to keep the wall square ( not sagging down ) ...
Cheers

looks to me like all you need is a double guy rope on the nearest point in the photo. If you haven't seen them, they are just the same as the one you have only double and in the centre of the two, have a loop to go over the "pin" in the top of the pole and you peg them out at right-angles to one another.
