Some of them had the 1.9 Peugeot diesel. An old design used in many French vehicles and the Mahindra jeep.
Their biggest problem was they were misunderstood. People bought them in their droves thinking they were getting something like a SWB Pajero at less than half the cost.
Most of them were built during the breakdown of the Soviet Union.

All compounded by the fact the that the Russian mob,who owned half the dealerships,were stealing cars as they come off the assembly line.
