Pajero Third Row Seat

Just out of curiosity can the newer shaped Paj's with the single (but 2 seater) third row seat be changed to 2 singles?? I know that they fold down into the floor and the idea of the seat being either up or down not really viable unless its 2 singles (like the Landcruiser and Patrols)...

(its just the idea of having to get prams and shopping in while one kid is in the third row that sounds like a pita.....)

The base and back are one piece which are only hinged at the two ends.

If you wanted to fit ones from the older models where each seat folded up towards the side window, you would need an Engineers Certificate, especially since the seatbelt attachments are on the seat. They bolted onto the top of the wheel arch, but I doubt there's enough clearance to do that with the existing plastic interior lining.

Would be impossible as the middle mount points for the two singles would be where the third seat well is. Nothing to bolt it to.

Hi

Just a little snippet to add to this. A friend took out 3rd row of seats so he had more space in the pajero. He subsequently took the car for a roadworthy when selling and would not pass till 3rd row put back in vehicle. Beware anyone contemplating selling or dumping the third row seats.

Same happened to me recently when selling the Jackaroo. 3rd row of seats were never in the vehicle and I bought it from a dealer...shonky mongrels (I know you know what I am talking about Laura). Anyway, the reasoning behind things is the RWC inspector can not verify if the seatbelts work or the seat itself is stuffed if they are not there to be inspected so how can he put his certification to the RWC. Up here if you do not have the third row of seats you need a mod plate to say it is only a 5 seater before RWC will be given or find someone with the third row of seats and borrow them for an afternoon or two hehehe.

It makes sense when explained nicely I reckon, still a PITA when it happens to you though.

Cheers
Trevor.
