I bought an RV-1 last week and tested it in my back yard.
Anyone else find the awning hard to roll up, even with the stiffener in the end? I find the loose flaps either side of the awning bulk up thus restricting it when folding it up.
Also, I am confused on how to roll up the side front flaps and screens. This is hard to explain.
There's one loop for both the outside canvas door and the flyscreen door on either side to loop through and velcro? Again I find this part gets bulky when folding up the tent.
My Oztent came with no instructions at all. Are the instructions on the bag all you get?

Yes i know what you mean about the awning . Unless 2 is rolling up then yeah , the ends bulk up . I think for memory roll the canvas door up first and then velcro it back . Roll the screen up and then undo the velcro holding the canvas door that you did up and put that thru
the loop one way while putting the velcro thru
the loop from the fly screen the other way then do them up i think .

Instructions should be on the front of the bag . Not what you are asking though .

Two last questions.
Mine had a loose 30cm long (or so) black band with Oztent logo on it and 2 loops either end. I presume this is the handle thingo that should somehow loop around the inside frame when you pull it open?
Also, in what situations do you velcro all the frame on the inside? If you do this (maybe in extreme winds?) do they all have to be loosened before collapsing the tent?
Thanks for any tips.

Hi
The long loose band should be near the centre on the tent and is used to full the tent up from the on ground position. After you have used the tent a few times, you will see why it will be the best
camping product you can buy. We have the RV 4 and it is the best tent that we have ever had.
Cheers and Seasons Greetings.

The frame on the RV4 should always be velcroed up at all times except for the two that stop the frame from collapsing . It suggests to velcro these 2 up after erecting the tent . So basically with my rv4 all velcroes are always done up except for the 2 when i collapse it . I cannot see how yours would be diffrent . Maybe it is ? Check this out.......

That loop at the top of the tent near the front is no more than a grab handle to put the tent up and down .

I have the RV3 which is A1 but I think where they all fall down is that the bag is too small. I will probably get a canvas one made.

Ian,
When you're packing up and the tent is rolled up, try fitting the bag over the tent then rolling it the right way up to zip it closed, rather than stuffing the tent into the bag.
When we purchased our RV3 this is what the salesperson showed us and we haven't had any problems.
Cheers,
Chris

Hi Ian, thanks for that tip, will try it next time although between the two of us (Hubby and I ) we don't seem to have too much trouble getting the tent in the bag.
Merry Christmas
Cheers

Found this trick when drying the tent off at home after a very wet pack-up.
Before collapsing the tent, and with the awning still unrolled, lay the tent forward on its 'face' with the awning lying out on the ground, (you have pulled it out from under the tent).
Now roll the awning up along the ground, it is now much easier to control the lumpy bits that form in the ends and make it awkward to keep in shape.
Once rolled up, lift the tent back up onto its base, fasten the awning into place with the velcro.
Yes, it is easier with two people.
I love my RV3, am considering getting extra walls, screens etc.
cheers
