Hi all,
i understand how often you would get this and how frustrating it would be to answer but trying to read through old threads has just left me confused.
Im about to purchase my first 4wd with a budget of $25k. Have been looking at mostly car yards for convienience and have narrowed down my picks to either a patrol or prado. Have found a 03 prado 3ltr turbo diesel for 24k with a good service history but a huge 275000ks on the clock hence the price i guess. It looks imaculate and would have seen very little offroad in its life. Before i spotted that one i was always set on the patrols but get very confused with all the different model - petrol, or diesels and the different sized engines. Just after any advice that yas can offer.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Cheers.

Hi tycs
I guess its a personal thing - we have a 97 80 series turbo diesel toyota landcruiser, we are biast towards toyota as we have always had them (apart from a couple of times when we realised toyota where the way to go) - they are reliable ect.
From memory Matt has said that the Prado turbo diesels go really
well, however you just don't know the history of a 2nd hand car.
Matt didn't really like the patrol (we did look at them at one stage as they seem to be cheaper than toyota) I think the main reason he didn't like it was the dash seemed way too close (he is 6foot tall) to his knees.
I would advise if buying 2nd hand get a RACQ, NRMA, RACV check done first.
If you live in qld you could call into
Billabong 4WD at Clontarf - I do believe they have a website as
well - they really only deal with 4WD - we have purchased 2 80's from them in the past - they are helpful and friendly.
At the moment Petrol is cheaper than diesel however that could change and I do believe that you get more milage from diesel.
Hope this helps.
Cheers
Caz
