I`ve gotta get a new gas cooker but don`t often see campers using the one with the grill underneath. I know there`s horses for courses so thought maybe the grills don`t work all that
well in practice? Maybe not enough of those BTU thingies. or too hard to clean. I guess I really onle want it to make decent toast and be able to heat a container of sorts. Any recommendations?

Ours is a Lido Junior, 2 burners and a grill. Works very
well.

Thanks Garbutt, looks good on the web though it didn`t seem to have windbreaks, but I`m wrapped with the stainless steel specs etc. Doug

We took a griller stove out of an old caravan. It has a windbreak which is important. It makes brilliant toast , toasted sandwiches , roasted cheese and tomato etc. Its heavier and bulkier but
well worth carrying if you like toast for breakfast or to use up older bread. You can rotate the burners upward to heat larger pots or frypans . Cant help with models though.

Great idea Lifeisgood, I`ve been thinking a bit on the same lines. Ive got a jetboil for hiking &
camping with a (quiet) trailbike but the flame is too protected for toasting gadgets. But in my Nissan xtrail, weight is not a factor (comparativeley). Obviously I have made some mistakes with past choices and appreciate your thoughts. Doug

Mate, I have a two burner gasmate cooker which has the flip down gauze toaster on it, The gauze part actually sits over the flame and the toast sits about an inch above. It is the best and quickest toaster I have used. Those under grill ones are useless and extra bulky.Probably only good for keeping a meal warm for dad when he comes back from fishing .

I suspected so Mrbrush, I wanted to catch up with someone that has used the standard undergrill one`s. Following the kiss principle and my budget maybe I should go back to what i was doing before I ran over the two burner primus. (But I was hoping to do more than one piece of toast at a time while using the other burner) Wifey gave me a two burner coleman for xmas, but cause she got ripped off (20% above recomended retail) we took it back. But i did learn a bit about their product and appreciated the regulated gas control for constant control to the end of tha bottle. (Seem to be always buying new cannisters for each bike or hike trip with the jet boil, just in case I need more gas but don`t want the extra weight of an extra half empty cannister) Aaaaggh
camping isn`t it a great feast of compromises. Got a mate that modified a webber with a ground down BBQ plate and a bit of mesh that seemed okay too. thanks for ya thoughts,
-- I`m looking forward to winter and no fire bans
