YES!! i got a cobb cooker for Christmas

all my hints have finally paid off and under the tree was a new cobb for me to play with, i even tried it out on the Christmas roast, i was impressed (and so was hubby and the kids) on how it cooked and the veggies stayed most. i think it's going to be a well used pressy.
has anyone tried the cobb cobble stone instead of the heat beads? what sort of price are they in comparison?
and finally if any one has some good recipes or tip please let me know.
Happy New Year to you all and hope you had a great Christmas from Chris.

Congrats Chris. An invaluable tool for the camper. I've used mine as an oven for bread making on our remote trips on a regular basis (I'm hopeless with a camp oven!). There have been two or three posts in the last couple of weeks about the cobblestone fuel. Do a search and you should find them. The general consensus as I understood it was that they were very good but burnt much hotter than heat beads so you might only need half of one.

Cheers Mick

hi, i didn't even think of bread, sounds good, do you use one of the extra racks or put the bread tin straight onto the supplied grill?, i'm trying to workout what extras i should now buy for it, thanks from chris.

I just use a mesh camp-oven trivet and put it on top of the bead basket to give greater height in the oven (I use a high bread tin). I sit the bread tin on two pieces of steel quad about 10cm long so the bottom doesn't burn. If you use a smaller tin, you'd be able to sit it on the normal cooking plate. You can just see the quad under the bread tin in the cobb. Usually enough bead time left after a roast to cook a loaf or a cake.

Cheers Mick
