It is actually far more lost than you think, it has been identified as an American Alligator!

Grey hair is hereditary, you get it from children. Baldness is caused by watching the Wallabies.

Yep for sure tell that to the North Americans who are having the coldest Winter for the last 50 years.
Bet they wish Global Warming would hurry up and arrive.
Having said that maybe your onto something...Its to damn cold in the USA that the poor gator swam south for winter :-)

The amount and diversity of marine imports being introduced into Twofold Bay by virtue of the dumping of ballast
water from the chip carriers is almost unbelievable.
I looked at the project as a potential career move in the late 70's, just could not believe what was going on.
The "greenies" were completely off the plot, the real, and existing problem is not the timber felling, but what was, and is happening to our ocean
water quality from incoming vessels dumping their
water ballast.
I suspect this quite happy looking reptilian would be from a similar source.
Pambula is only just around the North Headland, so to speak.

Sorry Darrell, what I meant but didnt say was that it more than likely came off a visiting ship, not secreted away in the ballast!
However, it could have been a sort of "pet".
many years ago (late 60's) an American who lived in
Coffs Harbour had several Pirana's in a very heavily weeded indoor aquarium.
I did see them in action, not a pretty sight.

No doubt this is someones pet that either escaped or got too hard to handle and it was put in the wild.
Read a very interesting article about aligators in the
Newcastle Paper yesterday. At Gosford there is a wild life
park that has been around seen Jesus was a boy and they have aligators at the
park. Each year they harvest the eggs to make sure that no little gators escape the fence line and are wondering the streets......and impacting on our wildlife.....a very sensible approach to conservation.
For those that know about this
park it is a great place not only for a visit but for the work they do in harvesting venon for use in ant-venon vaccines of snakes and spiders

Hi Marc,
Thanks for the info on the NMH, I'll get a copy of Mondays off mum and have a read of the article.
You are correct, the reptile
park at Gosford does some great work on anti-venoms.
