Just noticed this in a BCF catalogue 1/1/09 to 16/1/09. Its' a battery box with built in smart charger(says 6 stage, so sounds pretty smart) for $169. Gives no other specs, but may be worth checking out.
No affiliation.
Regards, John.

Hi John
At that price the battery cannot be much. probably ok for the occasional engine start [ petrol ,doubt if it would have sufficient ccas to start a diesel] & very light short period lighting use etc Battery is probably a cranker not a deep cycle .
I would be interested to hear if anyone has more details of specs

Hi oldtrack,
The catalogue states "Battery Not Included"
It's just the charger and a plastic battery box with some wires etc.
See,

Hi John. ARK are normally a fairly good product so this looks pretty good for the money. I have been looking for something like this so will have to find one in the flesh. Thanks for that. Bob.

Hi John,
I was looking at a battery box recently and checked the ARK product out. Very impressive. You can put any size battery in the box and change battery's around as you need to which suited my needs. I've seen a similar product on aussiervproducts.com for around $140.

Personally I think it's a great idea but with a 1,500 mA (1.5 Amp) charger it's next to useless.
With a 100Amp/Hr battery down to 50% it'll theoretically take up to 33 Hours to recharge assuming there isn't a load connected at the same time. (In practice it'll take longer than 33 Hours as it won't output 1.5 Amps in the later stages of charging!)
With a fridge and a few other odds and ends connected it'll most likely never charge.
I'd make my own and include a decent charger of 20 to 30 Amps capacity. Sure it'll cost more but it will actually be practical.

The charger is mores designed to charge and then top the battery up when not in use
