lockka lock rite difflocks

We used one of these Lokkas on the front axle of a 3.0 Nissan Patrol auto to tow a dual wheel trailer across the Simpson desert in September.
With the auto hubs locked it performed perfectly.

I installed one to the front axle on my GU patrol, however I have now replaced it with an ARB air locker.
The lockrite is excellent, did not miss a bit, advantages are that is automatic, proactive (it is there all the time and before you get into trouble).
Disadvantages (and the reason why I now installed an ARB air locker).
You cannot disengage the lockrite so it is always there, which takes all the fun out of 4wdriving, it basically makes it through everything nice and easy, I sometimes like to have it just in case but not engage it.
Makes the steering a bit heavier which add wear to components and most of the time you actually don't need it on...
They are all personal preferences but I cannot fault it otherwise.

ian, i have a locka in the front of my 2000 model dual cab rodeo. the extra traction is fantastic the steering is heavy but you get use to it. with cooper st's all round it takes me to more difficult spots slower and easier, so less strain on the rest of the vehicle.

I've only just bought a Lock Right for my FJ60 and installed it in the rear - biggest mistake I ever made, the car jerked and carried on during low speed tight turns and made everyone turn and look if I pulled into shopping centre carparks. Today I swapped front and rear diffs - what a transformation. I haven't tried it up bush yet but I locked my hubs and tried driving around town to see if it had any effect on my steering with hubs locked but not in 4WD, and you would never know it was in there. I am sure that as soon as I throw the lever to 4WD the steering will be a lit hard but normally when I go bush I lock the hubs and only pull the 4WD lever when I see a bit of an obstacle ahead so it suits me perfectly.
