Hi Brett
It will depend on how well you look. You can find them out in the desert, you just have to be in the right place at the right time.

Hi Barry,
Firstly Happy New Year to you and all viewers here on ExplorOz Forum. Brett's appearance has a lot to do with seeing lizards in the desert. Would you like to have your photo with a scruff in the desert???

All the Best for 2009.

Cheers

Stephen.

G'day Brett,

If you're lucky enough you might. You'll see plenty of camels. Here's a little bloke we saw out that way. There are plenty of smaller lizards and the occassional snake. We were lucky enough to stumble across a Stimsons Python this year, I mean last year (2008).

cheers Mick

You blokes make me envious. Too many rides in the ambulance and the doctor will not let me out into the bush proper

At the actual junction itself you'll probably come across more rubbish than wildlife.

Well it could be that a local tip isn't far away. It might be that it's a convenient place to stop and throw, or it could be the number of vehicle parts that have managed to drop off at that very spot.
Why do you ask, Richard ?

To be honest, the rubbish isn't THAT bad. I just found that, and the theft of Lens marker, a bit disappointing.
But the last time I was out that way was in 06...it could all be very different by now.

Its one of the tracks we have planed for this years trip (sounds good this THIS YEAR) so we will check it out. have been in the shed today making things for the trip, a Loo lift.

doing number 2's is a real pain in the but in the bush, but I'm going to do Willem and take the porta loo (that we have never used).

but now with the hip the way it is I may get down there but may have to roll off it.. LOL

built one but don't like it, so mark II tomorrow.

Cheers

Richard, I agree. Getting down is much more difficult with any physical problems, and as one gets older.
Make sure whatever you use that it's sturdy. I heard that an old chap broke a hip using a lifter on the Canning...not a great place to do it.
Good luck with THIS years trip, I'm sure you'll have a ball.

Hi Richard,
Make sure that if it has four legs, they are joined along the bottom - otherwise they dig into the desert sand and you can have a capsize.
We have a great folding dunny reverently called the "Delux Crapper". I have spent many comfortable times watching the wildlife, whilst perched on it.
Willie.

Willie, as one who has suffered in silence, may I ask if it's home made or store bought ?
Not a terribly nice topic I know, but getting the essentials right is.....essential so to speak.

Footy,

Its not a bad subject. Bloody important to be comfortable when you are out in the bush at dawn, communing with nature.

It is store bought , folds up and not only has a seat, but also a lid.

It has one design fault though - no magazine rack !

Cheers,
willie.
