Hi all,

The old man is looking to buy either a Prado or a Pajero in petrol format approx 2 years old in anticipation for his around Australia trip. I think he was a little envious of our 6 month trip. He will be towing an 18ft caravan and was wondering which is the better of the 2 vehicles

G,

Based on engine alone, the Prado is a ripper. The 4L V6 is powerful, yet extremely economical.

Cheers,

Jim.

Hi Goona,
I have owned 4 Pajeros over 17 years and very happy with them. Last year I broke the mould and purchased a Prado for various reasons and are very happy with our change. Do I have any regrets?? No way, the type of work that we do, it is perfect without the need for the most important addition for our long outback trips, a decent touring range of a stock standard 180 fuel tank, plus the tried and proven full chassis.

Cheers

Stephen

Agreed

I had 2 Pajeros, inc a Petrol NM. I loved it but after getting a Landcruiser I couldn't get over how much less rumble noise there was. I had read about the NVH of a Pajero being high and now I know what they are talking about. The noise on a dirt road is quite high. Also the Prado is slightly better fitted out. Given the choice of the two I would proabably go the Prado. Get him to look at the diesel if it is less than a few years old too. It is a ripper. The old diesel is very under powered for towing though.
