Canning Stock Route April 2009

Hey mates,

I'm a German student and am heading down to Australia nex year again (just can't wait to get there ;-) . I'm planning to do the CSR in April then. I'm going to arrive in Perth on 02.04.09 and will then buy a Troopy with all the neccessary equipment. This is gonna take me at least 1,5 weeks, so I'll be in Wiluna around 15.04.09.

So if you're planning to do the CSR around the same time, just let me know. I think two 4WD are better than one! If you already are a small convoy, maybe I can join you...

No worries, I'll be well prepared and already have gained some 4WD experience on my last offroad trip.

Cheers Tom

P.S. Anoyone who can tell me, if the weather's already gonna be good enough in the middle of April, go for it! (I think it should be possible...)

I'm not really worried about the heat (last time I hab temp up to 50°...) What worries me more is the risk of rain and getting bogged in mud (for which I'll be prepared)...

Yes Laurie, not the full length but a very large section in 2006.

Full trip is this year and then some :-)

Major risk of rain, if possible delay your trip or drive to Halls Creek and start from there, atleast you will know what the conditions are.

Keep your eye on this web site
http://www.bom.gov.au/weather/wa/

for a couple of months before hand to keep an eye on cyclones and they rain they bring. if that area recieves a decent amount from a cyclone then you will need to get reliable info as to track conditions

Tom

We did part of the Canning during April of 2005 our 2nd time around.

It was a very dry year and the hot weather lingered on for quite a while.

Just remember to take at least 100 litres of water with you, drop your tyre pressures down to about 20psi or less and don't forget to lock the hubs.

Go here to read about our North/South CSR trek in 1994

Enjoy your adventure

Cheers

Hey Willem,

that' an amazing report! And you confirmed what I assumed: driving with f*** up shockies is possible (although not a real pleasure...)

Cheers Tom

Yep, Tom

I learned my lesson there and now carry 4 spare shockies with me.

Cheers
