A few years ago I decided to breath some new life into our 1985 dual cab 2.4 Hilux.
Apart from a number of other mods we retro fitted a 3ltr 1KZ motor and auto from a late model Surf. After 3 years of untroubled searvice ie, many fishing trips into northern NSW, Central Oueensland and the Gulf. We are currently 3 months into an 8 month trip along the east coast and accross the top to Darwin, then hopfully through the Kimberlys to Broom. I payed good money for a tank full of diesel mixed with water at Cooktown and began having trouble at Lakeland. I cleanned out the sight bowel and changed our fuel filters. We carried on to Musgrave to camp the night. I checked my filters again to find another gut full of water. This is where I made a very expensive mistake. Instead of fixing the problem I fixed the symptom and changed the filters rather than dropping the fuel out of the tank and flushing the lines ( to hard ). We got halfway between Musgrave and Coen before the old girl finally gave up the gost. I am writing this post in a motel in Mareeba waiting for our injection pump to be salvaged. Although it looks as if we will be lucky this time and will not need to source any parts, I do not have a reliable contact for parts. Can any body help?

Cheers,
Brian

You don't say where you are from but in Brisbane (Northside) Try:
Maurice at "Allstate Auto Imports" Ph (07) 3265 5966. He is willing to advise and is an honest bloke. (Can source all sorts of stuff)
or "Alljap Auto Parts" (07) 3865 2221
There are probably lots of others but I have dealt with these two and have been a satisfied customer.
I suppose they won't mind freighting parts, you'll just have to ask.
Good luck with your travels, sounds like fun.
Cheers

Have you tried the 4x4 wreakers on the north side of Mareba?

Yep, checked them out when we thought we may need to replace the pump. But as it turned out it looks as if our pump is servicable. Most of the Wreckers are not willing to sell parts for these motors. They prefer to sell them as complete units.
