The original tyres on the LC 100 are just about shot after 60,000kms. I do about 50/50 towing and around town, with 95% of all running on bitumen. I hate rowdy tyres!!
I have usually gone straight to Bridgestone when buying tyres, and usually get about 70K from them. It is 3 years since I re shod my previous 4x4, and I notice some comments on the site critical of Bridgestone. I realise that manufacturers change sources.
What is the current flavour of the month? Say price range $1000 to $1200 for 4 tyres fitted, balanced and wheel alignment.

16x8 would be a safe bet on a 100 Series!

I noticed on the Goodyear web site that the Silent Armour tyre now comes in this size. I'm concidering them for my LC100.

There was lots of criticism of the Bridgestone 693, bear in mind that there were two types of 693, and Australian one and a Japanese one. The Australian tyre hade no OWL, and did not have the dramas that were experienced by some.
Nowadays of course there is the 694 and the 694 LT. I have these on the family car, and the 'other job' ute and they perform
well. I have Bridgestone MTs on the P7Patrol too.
From my personal and professional experience, Bridgestone are a reliable tyre, they do not spend a fortune advertising in glossy 4wd publications so have less 'popular appeal' than some.
cheers

You should be able to get a set of Kumho P275/65 R17's with KL51APT tread pattern 113H load rating @ around $270 a wheel.
Excellent on road & quiet, reasonable in sand, OK offroad tracks, only average on mud & grass.
Generally speaking mud tyres are noisey on road, due to the open tread block mud self clearance design.....
Cheers

A pity Bridgestone don't do a 694LT in 275/65R17
