Planning Trip up east coast with a Nissan Patrol (4.2 petrol) towing
a 20 foot Jayco (outback pac ) was wondering whether Fraser Island would be possible with the van.
Thanks again,
Phil.

Hi Phil,
We took our old van up to Fraser Island in October last year.We took the Manta Ray barge (green) from
Inskip Point. I rang the barge skipper a few days before we were going over, to get tide times andbeach conditions on the island. I think from memory that low tide on the day was 1pm or 1.30pm. The skipper told us to get to the barge around 11.30am and that we would have no problems on the island.
When we got to the
parking area at
Inskip Point I let all the tyres down to 15psi. The sand was soft getting to the barge so I just left the ute in 2nd low and had no problems. Over on the Island it was the same and I used low range till we rounded
Hook Point. After that it was like a highway.
Just bought a new van,a Paramount 20ft, and it will be going up there this year.
cheers,
Geoff
