Looking at getting a set of Yokohama Geolander A/T II 275/70R16.
Whats every ones experiance with them and what issues have people had such as :
Do you get a lot of road noise?
What sort of wear do they generaly get?
What are they like off road..... can they handle rough stuff with a resnoble amount of grip etc?
Whats a good price for them?
Thanks in advance for any info..

"Choice" magazine did a major brands tire

Hey Boo
I tried a set of Yokohama's once, personally I wouldn't put them on my 6 year olds billy cart.
I only use one brand of tyre now, and with over 800,000 kms of use with minor trouble, it is Bridgestone.
Cheers Steve.

Neighbour has them on his pajero, nice and quit, plenty of grip, not as strong as my bf's in the side wall but belly out
well with pressure dropped on the sand. They have feathered a bit on the outer edges but this is due to where we live not wheel alignment or incorrect pressures just from throwing the steering wheel left to right every 5 seconds, this is where the bf's have paid off as they are so firm in the side walls they dont have that effect of the rim wanting to come over the top of the tyre. Yoko are definately better in the wet then my bf's and myn is AWD where his isnt. Yoko give a life time warranty on the tyre if you rip out the side wall, stake it any thing like that, he hasnt had to claim a new one yet so cant comment on wether true to there writing. All up very good tyre on his pajero and he has done 30 thou now same as me since having them fitted and its now you can see the difference between the two. The bf's are definately going to do alot more klms but are noisier on road but have more aggresive tread and on the outer edges for biting in then the yoko. Maybe the Yoko is softer compound ?? which is making it wear slightly quicker but then you have the benifit of better grip in the wet but a softer side wall but you get a softer ride as
well. All up he's happy with them. Go and
check out the tread patterns between the two for your self or jump on line. WHG

I had Yokohama Geolanders on my Forester, found them to wear out very quickly - completely gone in about 30,000kms. Replaced with Cooper A/Ts, got 85,000 kms.
The Coopers were a little noisier, and steering was not as precise in dead centre. Stopped noticing within a few hours of driving.
Not sure about differences in stopping dist/traction. To me the extra kms are an important consideration - may not be to everyone.

I used a set of Geo A/T on my patrol when I couldn't get replacement BFGs. Found them exceptional on the bitumen in terms of handling and noise (ie quiet) but awfully susceptible to punctures even in the lightest of off road conditions. They were also very short on life - they had to be replaced at 28000kms so I could get my pink slip for rego.

I had a set of Geolander II A/Ts on my Disco. Great tyres on the bitumen! Not to bad in sand but punctured very easely.
Got rid of the with 1/2 the life still on the tyres.
