hi all, hope you all had a good xmas and holidays if you got away, this year i am planning on building a camper trailer but are looking for any ideas from what you have seen around to mount a 12ft dingy on the roof of a landcruiser incorperating a loader system and having a folding trailer that doesnt just fit the camper trailer, but can still be carried in the car alone and set up when at location as we travel long distances down tracks that would destroy the trailer. also ideas on outboard stowage ???

Cheers Deano

G'day Peter,

How do you put most of the folding trailer up there as well ? Does it go under the boat somehow ?

I am very impressed with the side-loading boat loader from Rhino.

Thanks,

Willie.

For weight it is hard to go past the aluminium folding boat trailer made by Almac Trailers in Bundaberg. I used to have one and found it excellent, but have recently changed to a steel trailer due to the size and weight of the boat I now use.

Almac also makes a very good roof rack / boat loader. I now have one of these on my 79 Series. The rack is very large and has masses of space for storage. It incorporates an electric winch with remote control for easy loading and unloading of the boat.

I have seen a set up where the folding trailer is mounted (folded) inside the boat and the whole lot is loaded / unloaded on the racks with the winch, with still plenty of room under the boat for the large 'ugly' stuff like fuel tank, life jackets, seats, etc.

Hi Deano

Jamic Engineering in Capel make a combined boat rack & trailer which fits a Landcruiser. BIL bought one and was very happy as far as I know. You can get Jamic's phone No from the web.

Cheers

willie: i take my axle and wheels off and they store across my a frame, the rest of the trailer stores under the boat as the custom boat loader is also a very substantial alloy rack. as far as weight goes it is 40kg for rack,80kg for boat ,8kg for gear stored in boat and 21kg for boat trailer parts on roof. peter
