Yep - got a pdf manual from their site for my inherited Warn 9000. Took it out, pulled it to bits, and greased it all up - I think it still works ! Warn claim such things need dis-assembly and lubrication etc after every swim - surely if my $29 watch from BigW can keep water out for years, an expensive winch could be engineered to stay dry ?

Darian

The troopy is the first vehicle i have had a electric winch (a copy of a Warn 9000 a Magnum 9000).

Still got the Tirfor hand winch which I got in 1983.

I have never used the electric winch in anger the day I need it is the day it won't work.. :-)

But do have the maxtrax..

cheers

Richard

with a little mechaical knowledge any one could dismantle and re-assemble one of these. mark all the end caps and positions of plates and its simple. the biggest hurdle will be the brush boxes because they do have a tendancy to rust up.a good clean and lubricate with grease will see it thru another 5 years. have an auto spark check the armature if has rusted(the rust may have affected the insulation.
