Has anyone heard of, or used Silverstone tyres??
Advertising claims they are similar to BFGs at almost half the price.
On sale on Ebay and at a 4wd store in Vic.

Thanks

Jeff

In issue 85 of 4wd Monthly they did a test on about 10 brands of A/T tyres and these came in well into the bottom half.
I had a chance at some half worn ones for about $60 each.

I went home and read the article and didnt buy them.
I seem to remember they didnt grip too well in corners.
I havent got the mags any more but someone may be able to look it up for you.

I always think you get what you pay for.
Interestingly the guy I was going to get them off owns the tyre shop and he replaced them with Yokohamas which I was looking for a replacement for due to them not wearing too well when towing.
Makes you wonder but I wouldnt buy them.
I ended up with BFG A/T's

Matey,i bought three second hand off ebay with rims for a Zuk wagon.Iwas told by the seller they had done about 5k anyway i could not find & they did not make thi particular a/t anymore so i put two on the back & one as spare & two Sime a/t on the front.
Went to the EO gathering at Innaminka aback again they handled quite well on the marbles & corro's gouges in road bull dust & on the black top wet or dry they handle quite good they were only 15 inch. There is a bloke up here in Bris that uses them & tests them for Silverstone doing Rallying in Tassie,i don't know of any feed back though. They feel stonger than Coopers too.I also think if you google you get some info of them plus there website.

A mate of mine used them but found them to be really noisy. Even though the tread pattern looks the same as BFG's there must be some difference as he took them off again as he found he couldn't live with the road noise they produced. Another mate took them off his hands and fitted them to his car, he also ended up taking them off again due to the same reason.

G'day Jeff, I have two Silverstone Highway pattern on the front of the Jack. came on a set of alloys I bought off ebay. They were
below 1/2 tread but went to the Kimberley & back, 13k, without
incident & I was really happy with the grip & steering. I was aware
they made a A/t & was going to have a look at them, but the
noise thing may put me off. Had BFG A/t on the rear, new, & no
incidents there either. Will run the Siverstones out on the C/t to
Perth & back later this year, that will see them out. At this stage
will replace with BFG I think.........oldbaz.

OK. thanks to everyone.

As usual - you get what you pay for.

Ill give them a miss as I need the new tyres for the CSR.
Not worth the risk out there just to save a few $s

Thanks again

Jeff.
