There's another bloke doing a walk at the moment too.

John Olsen, he walked from the tip of Cape York to the Bottom most point of tassie in 2004. He has been walking 200 days since he left Steep Point in WA walking to The eastern Most point of Eastern Aus. He is currently walking home to Geelong in Vic along the Newell Highway. Passed through Forbes on Thursday and is heading for West Wyalong.

This fella has done it alone and unaided. He planted food and water all the way from WA along the Anne Beadell Highway. He tows a 100 Kilo hand cart with him and camps rough each night. Offered him a bed in Forbes the other night but he knocked it back and camped in his tent because he reckoned he wouldn't sleep for a week if he slept in a bed for one night. So far this trip he has done 6000 kilometres and raised over $75000.00

We were on the Anne Beadell Hwy near Voakes Hill a couple of days after he'd passed through in early September. He's been out there a long time - must wear the body out! His trolley looked like it needed a wider track - always had a wheel in the middle of the road.

He built his own trolley, said he didn't want anyone else to feel bad if it broke?

Reckons if he does anything like it again he'll have wider tyres for the sandy/dusty bits.

Eric,

Michael's still marching on. Your post has prompted me to give his wife a call this week to catch up.

I'm planning to meet up with Mike when he gets into Victoria and walk a leg or two with him. I'll be putting up a post as it gets nearer the date to see if anyone else wants to join in.

Cheers,

Jim.
