The old paj's turbo needs replacing, seals going/gone.
Using about 1l per 1000k of oil.
Checked rest of engine and all OK.
Oil in the pipes going to the intercooler.
Turbo has done 330,000k, and is original.
Heavier oil has helped a little, but is only a stop gap measure.

So which make and model of turbo is used?

Talking to a few people around Brisbane, no can wants to recommend any one to overhaul it.

So maybe buying a new turbo might be the go?
While I am at it, could maybe get something which spools up a little sooner. :o) I tend to drive in the 1800 to 2800 rpm range anyway.

So any thoughts or recommendations, or contacts?

As Matt said, its not being drawn out the engine breather and re-entering with the intake air.Simple test is to remove the breather hose and put it into a temp. catch can.If you catch oil in it, it compression bypassing the rings and blowing oil out.
I had a couple of turbo's rebuilt by Rota Master in Melb, varied from $600 to $1000, depends on how much is worn.

Thanks Nick,

Yes have checked the rocker cover breather, a little oil, as usual but not that much. Must be the turbo.

John,

There's a mob in Toowoomba, think they're called Superior Turbos, that appear to have a pretty good name.

They'll turbo anything from a lawn mower to a mack truck! Sorry don't have a phone number.

Bob.

Can't remember most of it.

There is a bloke on the Gold Coast called Mr Turbo that does that type of work. Believe he is quiet good. Depends on where you are !
