Does anyone use the HFoZ, in particular the SMS and GPS options I understand it does or will shortly allow SMS messages to be sent to a web site where people can look at the messages and do email ( out only).

Has anyone used this and if so does it work.

Also it only has 2 base stations, NSW and Perth, is this enough?

BB

I'm a member but the 950 i use will not do the SMS and GPS so have not used it.

It's up and running around 60-70 members, its more a chat line than VKS-737 (i am a member of this also & radtel)

But because Doug Taylor (0014) HFoZ East runs HFoZ and Radtel there are some neat little thing coming out.

Cheers

Richard

I am a member of HFOZ,HF Radio and VKS737
I installed the GPS to my NGT and so far have not confirmed that it works as there was some teething problems.

On 19th jan an email said
Our GPS Data Logging Mapping has just been launched which will enable registered users to download their logged co-ordinates onto a mapping page. Please note that the mapping were currently using is only temporaray Within the next 1-2 weeks well have Natmap Raster 1:250K Topo Mapping up and running (baring any unforseen mishaps)

On Feb19th the Central Base Station will be operational completing the network infrastructure.

Anything new that improves communication and safety for travellers is worth trying.

I had the GPS working for about 2 months and it died. It's currently back with Doug for a warranty repair.

Cheers
