Gooday Bundy,
to the best of my knowledge, you will find that state and federal governments hold that info. They have departments (that don't talk to each other), that map info such as resources, mines, where cattle & horses are, and all sorts of other things. Even companies such as concrete manufactures, quarries etc do the same thing. Most are very reluctant to share that info. Even if they did, you might find it difficult to transform it to a format suitable to your use. Sorry I don't have more info for you; hopefully someone else will.
Fred

Bundy Boy,
I just came across these
maps on the Geoscience Australia website. Scroll down the page a bit and you will see the maps of various minerals along with gravity and magnetic anomalies, and for your purposes a map of minerals and mines.
You should be able to open them in Ozi Explorer or equivalent, create way points and then transfer to your Garmin.
I haven't tried it so it may not be as simple as I hope.
Cheers
Ben
