After reading (and enjoying) Solos post below about his trip to the Cape, I reckon more of you seasond travelers out there should "pen" a few of your own experiances, highliting destinations, great locations, problems encounterd (and overcome) and anything else you wish to mention.

Maybe even a section for members to post there own articles, as this frustrated stuck in suburbia, new father, self employed 4x4 owner would like to exscape via them, more often than he does for real!

Just a thought from a ring in.

Happy Days....Browny

Go to my website www.kempen.id.au, click on 4x4 and then read the 18 articles. There are quite a few forum users with 4x4 related websites

Hey Willem,

You have changed your logon name! and photo.

Perhaps everyone with their own site could list it here or on a new thread. I used too have a lot in favorites but lost them all when the PC blew up.We have so little time to enjoy our land

David, you wouldn't be any good in the FBI....you've just blown my cover and it is not yet 24 hours since I went under-cover :-))) Now I will have to look for a new name.

Anyway, there was a thread a while back on websites. I think that when David and Michelle get back from holiday we should put it to them. The problem being that if it was established with a HTML link then the download usage on this website would shoot through the roof and the owners would want to be compensated for that. I have a link in my website to Exploroz.

Willem, its a bit hard retaining cover when you give out your website address. What's with all these photos of other trucks? Bring back the "old girl".

Hi Fellas,

Its cold and its wet and I'm stuck indoors......whatever made me settle down here in the big freeze? Just like to change things around. I have a lot of photos but many of them are too large in size to post and I haven't figured out how to downsize them yet. I have been on Exploroz for nigh on 12 months and needed a name change. Nothing stays the same forever.............might change it again in the future.....not by deedpoll though :-)) There's a name that I really like...might use that one day....CADDIBARRAWIRRACANNA...the longest placename in SA. I've been there.........Willywags is my totem.

Well done Willem - you just took me back to my childhood.

"CADDIBARRAWIRRACANNA,
little lake with lovely name,
And the story woven 'round it,
from the Pickaninnnies came."

was a song we sung in primary school."Live today as if there may be no tomorrow"

Don't you just love the internet (and Google). Ask and ye shall receive.

Carra Barra Wirra Canna

There's a lake in South Australia,
Little lake with lovely name,
And the story wound around it
From the picaninnies came.
Every night the native mothers
Croon this lovely lullaby,
Croon across the moonlit waters,
to the star up in the sky.
CHORUS
Carra Barra Wirra Canna,
Little star upon the lake,
Guide me through the hours of darkness,
Keep me safely till I wake.
Piccaninnies' heads are nodding,
Drowsy crooning fills the air,
Little eyes at last are closing,
And the boat of dreams is there.
Guide my boat across the waters,
Cross the waters still and deep,
Light me with your little candle,
Safely to the land of sleep.
CHORUS
"Live today as if there may be no tomorrow"

Hi Wombat,

Thanks for that ditty.

Cadibarrawirracanna(as spelt in Hema Map) was my drawcard to Australia. At school I was OK in Geography and whilst learning about the salt lakes of Australia I saw the magical name of that lake. I am going there one day I said to the teacher. I don't think he believed me.

I came to Aus in 1968 but as things turned out I never got to the lake. Then in 1992, whilst taking a shortcut from Alice Springs to visit the rellies in Melbourne, we got stopped by floodwaters at Stuart Creek south of William Creek. We had to backtrack over Anna Creek Station to Coober Pedy.

On that road I saw the sign LAKE CADIBARRAWIRRACANNA 6km. I had to get there! We struggled down the very wet and muddy track to the lake. I had my photo taken sitting in the salty waters of the lake. One more dream realised.
Cheers,
Willie

Yep a bushranger. He used to hangout in no mans land, the disputed border territory between VIC/SA and hijack the gold shipments from the Vic goldfields travelling to Robe. I think the border dispute has never been settled.Hooroo

Believe it or not:

On April 11th, 1865, he was shot dead, with a bullet in the back, fired by John Wendlan, at Peechelba station, near Wangaratta. Morgan did not die straight away but his spine was bleep tered. When he finally died his head was cut off and tobacco pouches were made from his scrotum.

I think he is buried in Wangaratta Cemetry. I grew up between Wangaratta and Glenwrowan at the foot of the Warby Ranges. Anyone ever been to the Ned Kelly show in Glenrowan? That's a good laugh, and good area for the history buffs.

Firstly... Mad Dog Morgan was a bushranger... (But you all knew that!!)
Secondly,
I love sharing yarns of our trips, which, being novices at the moment fall into the day trip variety but hopefully in the not-too-distant future will be longer treks.
I do have a small web site, anyone can build one, but I agree that a "yarn" section here would be a GREAT idea!!!
Cheers
