Hi all,
we are planning our next holiday tour in October. It´s our intention to do "a slight detour" to the Alpine NP with a Toyo bushcamper. Which way is the better alternative: the Corryong Benambra Road or the
Omeo Hwy. to
Omeo and why?
Thanks and best regards
Helga

It's a while since I was there Helga so this may be out of date: the Corryong - Benambra road was long, narrow and slow.
The
Omeo Hway has more length sealed, the dirt sections are fairly wide but subject to corrugations. There are narrow bitumen sections south of Anglers Rest that demand some care. (Speaking as a motorcyclist, 4bies cutting corners on that road is a major health
hazard!). North of Anglers Rest there are some
nice camp spots on the river. The Blue Duck Hotel at Anglers Rest may be closed; it was last time friends passed by, but new owners may have it open by Oct.
Good luck with your trip.

Just to add: the
Omeo 'Hway' is covered by Google Streetview, and there are also
camp spots on the
Mitta Mitta R south of
Mitta Mitta township.
