Who would be a weather forecaster? Yesterday looking on the BOM Site at the radar & wind, it looked like t a low was developing into a cyclone.
Green Island had had 100k per hr winds that night. They had issued a severe weather warning and this was canceled at 10am yesterday, was not even changed to a strong wind warning. Meanwhile radar still showed the low still spinning and looking like developing. No further wind/weather warnings were issued. Still looking at BOM site, we are saying that looks like a developing cyclone and
Green Island still getting 60k plus winds. Went to bed all is fine though low still spinning quite noticeably. Get up this morning and Bingo it is a Cyclone! With technology these days, why is is that hard to see - we had seen what we though the images were presenting and had predicted the outcome the previous day.
Is it because they swing towards caution in a tourist town?
They say you have to be a fool or a wise man to predict the weather so who would have their job when it may make a wise man look a fool? Cheers tony

Hi Tony
Agree totally with your comment.
I too was watching the BOM site as we are in
Townsville and wasn't surprised this morning when I saw the cyclone.
It looked almost a certantiy yesterday with the radar images already spinning

I was thinking the same thing last night. Ellie was 998 at one stage. I don't know why it wasn't called. Anyhow maybe they are pressured by the Vic gov to work on down south for good reason. Who knows. I'm a keen weather watcher. The big one that hit Brisy a while ago I said to hubby gee some one is in for it in
Brisbane and there wernt any warnings for it at that point.
Cheers
