Hilux diesel 97 - 05 Oil filter change mess solved

This is not my original idea it's a big thank-you to whoever posted it up here in some distant past post I could not find.

As you unscrew the oil filter on these diesels they drop about 250ml, someone said they put a Chinese take-away type rectangular container under the oil filter and it captured the oil.

Well bugger me how easy it was. The container rests on a chassis rail and an electrical cable and it was my first ever oil change with not one single drop drop on garage floor (not that I'd notice it by now ...)

Though I suggest you put the lid on afterward for the tricky extraction of the container.

Yep i use the THAI food take-away containers lol,they hav heaps of diff uses..

No worrys Porl, I remember you asking the question. I had been doing that way for years when I owned the lux, took me a while to work out a way to stop the mess from running all over the front diff etc. Glad it made it easier for you. WHG

Ive been using the dairy soft containers for years.
Perfect size, for old filter removal, and the new one with its few drips.
