Have read some info on this site dating back to 2004 about problems with the EGR valve in the 2000 3.0TD

Mine has just clicked over 164k and appears to have experienced similar problems, and have made my first call to Nissan Australia with an unfavourable response.

Has anyone experienced this problem recently and had any luck with Nissan, if so what was the approach

The EGRs have some problems and there are many other issues that can affect these motors.

Check out this site, heaps of info there.

I phoned the Nissan Australia Dandenong number listed and Response was "we do not provide a lifetime warranty on the vehicle"

So I'm wondering whether I went through the right door, or whether after 9 years this is now the typical response

It really depends on what is wrong with the vehicle,

Now if it's just a shot EGR valve then get it replaced or blank it off, after looking at the site I gave you above.

If it's blown the motor and has holed the pistons and the vehicle has a full service history, you may, and I repeat may, get some help from Nissan Head Office.

The vehicle has done 8 years and 165,000 ks so they may not even help out if the motor is blown. It is well worth a visit to the Nissan patrol site and search for EGR, or Blown motor whatever is you particular issue.

Good luck

I had one for 190,000 ks and no major problems, all were covered under warranty.

No mate,

I never had much in the way of issues. Loved the truck but was worried that I would end up with a blown motor so traded it in.

I know a lot of people who did.

Early on Nissan would provide a new engine, later they provided the rebuild kits and labour , I have heard of them giving a recent failure the rebuild kit but he had to pay labour. His had only done 65,000 so I don't really like your chances.

Don't waste your time or efforts on Nissan. Take it from me unless you have a faultless log book, with regular services ny Nissan you may not get anywhere at all.

Look at threads 62790 and 65383 - MY experience with this problem.
