can not comment directly on what NSW use, however if it is similar to what other areas/countries/
services use it will form part of thir computer aided dispatch system (CAD). It will provide them with info such as job lists, job details, linked mapping (usually live update also due to the ability of the dispatcher to update hazards,
road closed, heavy traffic) as
well as specific ambo type stuff.
It pretty
well just a glorifed in vehicle PC but its not if you know what I mean.

Hi,The large screen you are refering to is the MDT [mobile data terminal] sits on the dash board. When an ambulance is dispatched to a cas call or "routine" case, the ops centre electronically send all the info they recieve to the responding amb.crew. We can read the case details and also be updated enroute. In addition on the MDT screen ,we can push a button and get our exact Latitude/Longitude to give to a helicopter in the event of a serious injury/illness. There was talk last year of amb. having fitted a GPS/Navman or similar but nothing to date as yet. Hope this aswers your question.
regards

So you must use a street directory book to navigate to a given address ?
