· The phillip Morris smoker owns snails
· Milk is drunk in the middle house
· The Norwegian lives in the first house on the left
· The man who smokes Chesterfield lives next door to the man
who keeps the fox
· Kools are smoked in the house next to where the horse is
· The Lucky Strikes smoker drinks orange juice
· The Jap smokes Marlborough
· The Norwegian lives next to the blue house

Yeah Bruce, I am with you on this one. Norwegian for both water and zebra. I worked it out by a process of elimination, crossing off what was told directly, then by what was told indirectly, leaving the possibilities blank and filling in who has what to fill in the blanks (if any of that makes sense). If I am wrong, please let me know.

Having just got back from teaching a session on Problem Solving and Creative thinking, I thought it was my duty to tackle it the hard way, though I knew it would probably be easier to find the answer via google.

Mind you after a couple of red wines my logic didn't quite follow the proper process but got there in the end.

Funny thing,
when looking at the google websites (after I had posted my answer I might add) quite a few have now updated the puzzle, replacing the evil cigarette brands with the much more socially acceptable "prestige Car" that each owner drove. Very PC and a sign of the times.
