Hi all, Haven't been on for awhile. Not since got back from
Googs track in Sept 08.
Next trip is
Rudall River but leaving the trusty cruiser at
home and taking the BMW 1200gs.
Have chatted to Mick O (vic) and he was very helpful but have 2 problems
1 Fuel, does anybody know if I could organise a small fuel drop at a Lat/Long postn.would need at least 20-30 litres (unleaded)and
2 any further news on the track specifically sand and dunes. These are a nightmare on a big heavily laden bike.
Planning on coming in from
Marble Bar unless advised otherwise.
Should be there late May all going
well.
Any help really appreciated and thanks again to Mick O for previous help.
Cheers Paul

Hi Paul,
looks like you are in for an eventful time. You could try
Capricorn RoadHouse 08-91751535, they do drops for the CSR, so they go right past the Ruddal River Main Track t/o (9km from southern
hand pump) to do their fuel drops. I am led to believe they charge about $500 for a drum of 200ltrs to be dropped off. They may be able to do yours in conjunction with another drop. No harm in asking.
Wish you all the best in your endeavours.
Fred

Thanks for that Fred. I was hoping one of the exploroz members was heading in that direction and be able to take a gerry in but the roadhouse certainly a good thought.
Failing that I'll have to ride in part way and dump some myself.
And you're right ,it is going to be a long interesting trip.
Cheers Paul

Paul,
Cotton Creek is in
Rudall River but they only have diesel. It might be worth a phone call and see if they might be able to get some petrol for you.
I believe that Cotton Creek get there fuel from
Capricorn Roadhouse.

Thanks for the offer Nick....sounds like a fine idea. Would be cheaper to get a helo to drop some in! but I'm sure we'd have a good time.

Might be a long shot, but if your approach was right, Telfer might help.
Try asking if there was a m/cycle enthusiast there that you could get some 'local' advise from..... Once you had a personal contact it would be easy.
The 'phone number on the HEMA maps for Newcrest is out of date, BTW, but i am sure that finding the right number will be easy. The security
gate is on UHF40 when you get close.
Last year they told me that they were going to shift the security
gate so travellers to
Rudall River NP did not have to enter the security area any more.
Cheers,
Peter
