Just heard on the news 84 are now no longer with us.
What a shocking loss of life, properties, towns and national parks to some fire crazy maniac.
The emotional interviews with some of the victims really gets to you.
Great praise must go out to the volunteer fire fighters and all those involved in fighting the fires. They must be buggered but still carry on regardless of personal cost.
Our condolences and thoughts must go out to every one concerned.

Yeah terrible news. And to think that some of these fires were lit by low life scumbags. Should be charged with murder, simple. The amount of familys that were found in their cars trying to flee was just terrible, and some with 5 of more passengers on board. And the same from me, condolences and thoughts to all including the fire brigades and all the ones that fight the fires, doing it for the people and all in their own spare time, these guys and the ambo's are worth every cent, good on you all............. This is a tragedy of a proportion which i have never seen in Australia. Our hearts go out to all those who are suffering, and in particular to those who have the greatest lost imaginable - the loss of a loved one (or more). The news just keep getting worse.

Further to my original note.

I dont think there are any words in the dictionary to really describe this tragedy.
I hope the bastards when caught get the book thrown at them.
In other words "Let the punishment fit the crime" [Who said that, was it Shakespeare's plays?]

My daughter in-law and three grand kids just got out of Flowerdale with only the cloths they were in along with the two dogs and the cat , still don't know if the house is gone.

I feel sick thinking about what might have been.

It must be a great relief to you to know that they are safe even though they may have nothing left.
They are the lucky ones.
We have some friends in Drouin. The fire came within two kilometers of the town. They were saved through a sudden wind change.
Somebody must have been smiling on them that day. Hope it is the same for your daughter in-law.

A very smart mother made a split second decision and headed for Yea and safety. Heading for Kinglake west (to meet up with my son in Melb ) would have taken them into that infeno. Thanks to a smart Country girl my grandchildren will be going back to the local school we have been told is still standing.

They are not hopeful of finding there home intact.

Up to 108 - but i am sure it will be worse before the end - Its a very sad time especially when you know that entire families are involved in the fatality list

As far as the firebug is concerned --- Mob justice should be the decider not the court system - i don't want my Tax money going towards his $80 000 a year room without a view

another sad thought -- some of the people that may have lost there lives may have been members here ..... :(
