Released 11th Feb 2009
Version 1.10
Mapmerge webpage
Changes
* Much faster than version 1.05 - the speed increase may be a factor of 3 for a single image re-projection to a factor of 50 for for merging many maps.
* Added bilinear filtering to the re-projection process so the final image will have a smoother look. Bilinear filtering will have no affect if you are doing significant scale reduction on an image, the effective range is 50 to 100% resizing.
* Added sharpening to reduce the blurring effect of the bilinear filtering.
* Improved color lookup algorithm (colors in final image may match source images better).
* Other minor changes.
Cheers

Hi Greg,
I have never used Mapmerge and in fact, I did not know what it was when you brought the subject up. Now I am intrigued.
I have a CD of WA "Abandonned
Mine Sites". Could I merge one of the maps on it with a 250,000 map in OziExplorer ? If I saved it in Ozi, would it then become a seperate map file or would it just stay as part of the overall 250,00 mosaic ?
Thanks for posting the info,
Willie.

Hello Willie
Mapmerge joins Oziexplorer calibrated map images together...so bit like making you own "mozaic" from adjoining map sheets. The CD you have (if I am guessing correctly) is from the mines department in
Perth. While I have a copy not sure what data on it you wish to merge. I have imported the point data (i.e.
old mine sites/shafts) as waypoints into OE...is that what you want to do ..or is there some maps on the CD you want to "merge" with existing maps you have?
Cheers

Richard...
if you go here
DMP Data Download
and look in Mineral information you can download a shapefile of
abandoned mine sites (most but not all) in WA. As I assume you know you can import shapefiles into OziExplorer ...and away you go. There is a CD which has additional info..: "that includes photographs of individual underground and surface excavations, dumps, and rehabilitation and
infrastructure features. Mining-related features are illustrated and described by morphological criteria and key attributes. Selected georeferenced historic GSWA maps and bulletins are also included"
I think you can buy it online from their bookshop.
Cheers

...havent messed with this for a while. File conatins 26,600 points so it wont fully load into OziExplorer as it has a 10,000 point. File will need to be broken up into at least 3 pieces. You can do it easily if you have Arcview or similar. The DBF file can also be opened in excel and edited (ie edit and save relevant columns in csv format for import into OE as txt file).
Cheers

Hi Greg,
There was so many followups I came down here. Yes, I want the waypoints. Can I just import that a file containing them, from the CD to Oziexplorer ?
I am off to NZ tomorrow morning. I sent you a nice red today - hope you enjoy it.
Cheers,
Willie
