Been lurking for quite some time and have always found the site has some great info. I'm looking at Rear wheel carriers for our 100 series V8 petrol Landcriuser and am looking at one from 4wd Systems, seems fairly sturdy and a good price, just want to know if anyone has experiences with this product. Bad or good

G'day Steve,
Have heard good things about the 4wd systems RWC. I have an older Opposite Lock unit that is also very good. Very sturdy. The latest ARB offering is very expensive and i've heard quite a few people lamenting that it doesn't take much of a nudge to knock the closing pins out of alignment creating all sorts of difficulties.
Cheers Mick

Steve
I just went to that website and had a look at the Tyre Caddy's , the first thing that caught my eye was flimsy little bolt for a hinge, secondly the whole thing looks crap , for city vehicles only as far as I'm concerned , Have a look at the made in
Perth . They might cost a little more but they're sure to last a lot more, I also notice the tail lights are exposed too on the 4wd Systems Caddy, Below are 2 Pics for you to compare .

Hi
I found the Kaymar product to be excellent.
Well made and they were very helpful with post purchase queries.
Cheers

Mine has been over many km of corrugations and hasn't missed a beat. Good, simple, reliable IMHO. You do pay for them, though.
Cheers,
Mark

Put Kaymar one on Defender, about 260,000km ago. Much rough road travel in there. No problems at all. It carries a really heavy wheel, too, not an aluminium job.

Another vote for the Kaymar... I have the replacement bar with single carrier. Done lots of work on very bad roads without a problem.
Cheers,
Rod

For what it is worth..... if the brand you are looking at doesn't turn out - I'm the second owner of my vehicle and it came with a Kaymar single rear wheel carrier (over the bumper installation) - very robust and entirely trouble free to date - would seem to be worth the $ if you intend to motor on the rough stuff at times, for many years to come.

We have had an opposite lock RWC for 4 1/2 years. Done a lot of outback travel including
cape york, the
canning stock route (very bad last year),
Simpson desert,
corner country three times plus various short trips. No troubles whatsoever. One word of warning
check that your vehicle does not need to reinforce the chassis due to the extra load placed at rear end

Gday Steve
I have a K&N Strongarm wheel carrier on my Patrol
Half the price of ARB and Kaymar, very strong
and has high lift jack points.
Best bang for buck IMO
Cheers
