Hi,
Still on the search for an LC, currently looking at a 92 HZJ80 series. The only rust I can see in it is some specks on the roof which have been patched up (poorly). There is no rust along the roof seam or around the windscreen. Is this little specking an issue, is it likely to grow? ( I have similar specking on my falcon, always just took it as a cost of living near the ocean)
Any other issues I should be looking for in this model LC?
Thanks

Hi Matt,
If it's a GXL look for rust under the third row seats window rubber, I don't about the dx, rv models with fixed glass.
Another place rust can be found is In the engine bay behind a cover on the passenger side,
Read about it here.
Apart from that I don't know of any other spots it may be found off the top of my head.
Their pretty good for not having much rust in them, unless they have spent a lot of time on the beach. :(
Hope this helps Matt

Matt,
I have a 1993 Series 80 which is starting to show a few spots. A couple on the roof went unnoticed as I had a roof rack fitted. Must be bird bleep eating its way through.
Also under the rubber seals of the rear side & rear windows.
I've just treated them all. No big deal. One small hole I had to fill.
Nothing signficicant anywhere. I have an electronic rust proofing system installed, but I've no idea whether it works.
Last 5 years I've been in Tropical Queensland ( = damp) which hasn't helped.
I've been on the beach a few times but always take a lot of time to wash underneath and everywhere else.
Hope this helps.
