towing in overdrive

gday we just bought a maverick auto and was wondering what the go is with towing in overdrive.we used to have a jackaroo auto and towed in overdrive without any problems.or is it a big no no with the niissan

Maybe you should ask one....lol

Jackaroo's are the lighter of the two so with the the Nissan/Mav it should be OK to tow your CT in O/D. Just change down if the old bus struggles.

There has been a hundreds posts on this subject.
It really depends on the load,the inclines and the vehicle.
There is lots of sob stories from owners of all makes of 4wd who have damaged transmissions towing in 5th.
Err on the side of caution

I towed a 18 foot Jayco van with both a Td5 Disco & a Toyota Hilux. Both were auto transmission & diesels.

Usually if I tried towing in overdrive the transmission oil light came on. The Disco had a good transmission oil cooling sysytem too.

I also tow in overdrive with an auto diesel
Get an *EXTRA* TRANS OIL COOLER installed
Keep the engine running in max *torque* range

thanks thats going to be the first thing i do.
same as i did to the falcon
the last owner just had it serviced it and has filled it with synthetic auto fluid.

Run with the power button on,as soon as you need to put your foot down it will change down.
