Was sitting in traffic today, next to what I thought was a customised Troopy, two tone paint work, 4 door wagon but not as long as a Troopy, had all the winks and wanks on it, had me buggered what it was…although it had a Landcruiser badge on the side. When it took off you could hear it was turbo diesel, then I slowed down to see the back end, and I’ll be buggered (again) it had a Prado badge on it…must be an import? Or the first of the Prado’s? Never really taken much notice of ‘em before……

All sorts of wierd cars out there that we will never see. I saw a SWB Prado when I was in NZ a couple of months ago. Really loooked great. Can't work out why they would not bring them to oz. There would have to be a market for a capable shortie.
Here is a road
test on one in South Africa

Jep Japanese Prado has a 70 series body, sort of inbetween the bundy and a troupy. Havnt seen one for ages, mustnt be inporting them anymore, would be hard to get those panels that dont fit any oz 70/s

Dozer's right. It's a Jap Prado which has a 7o series body. Just before they change to the 90 series body these beast were equipped with the 3lt TD motor. They sit 7-8 person. The older ones have a 2.4 TD motor which is really under powered. My mechanic told me the 2.4 motor suffer from bad distortion if overheated. 3lt is the go!
