Hi all
I posted a similar thread a few weeks ago ..some members responded to asist and was much appreciated, however I still havent got what I really seek...and that is
a map of the
Kimberley ideally (or WA as a whole) in the jpeg format........my wish is to then be able to "edit" draw coloured lines overlaying tracks etc on this map the areas we are travelling / have travelled for an electronic record of our travels. I only have photo software that will enable me to edit in jpeg and I guess in BIT which I think I can convert in the photo software
previous responses were able to supply this in PDF form but that is of no use to me as I can read /print only. I wish to 'edit" as in draw on
thanks to you all

Would this work for you? Scan the
Kimberley map page from your map book onto your computer in .jpg
I did this when trip planning so i could print out several copies.

Hi Motherhen
what a sensible idea!........I have to confess in trying to photograph the damn thing without a lot of success as it is never a clear cut image.and all along I have agood scanner no more than 1 metre from me right now!!
thanks for pointing out the obvious :) I will have a go..should work

Bring up desired area on Google Earth or Google Maps ; Print screen to Paint, crop to size and area, save in jpeg.

If you have oziexplorer (or a friend with it), here's something you can do also.
- Open up ozi, and load in your preferred map (say the HEMA
Kimberley map as an example).
- Under the 'file' menu, select the 'Save Map to Image File' / 'Color Image' option. This will save the map as a .bmp image.
- Open the .bmp image using Microsoft Paint (which is part of Windows-XP). Save the file as a .jpg file.
Hope the info helps.
John.
